ABOUT ME

BACKGROUND

Laura Cecilia Nicolás was born in Buenos Aires in 1985. She studied Philosophy at the Universidad de Buenos Aires and obtained a Master's degree in Philosophy and Contemporary Criticism of Culture at the Université Paris VIII, France. Later, she studied German Translation at the Instituto de Enseñanza Superior en Lenguas Vivas "Juan Ramón Fernández" and completed a Diploma in Advanced Studies in Children's Literature at the Universidad Nacional de San Martín. Former scholarship holder of the German Academic Service (DAAD) and of the Internationale Jugendbibliothek in Munich, she works as a literary translator from German and French and also as a creative producer in different artistic fields. She was assistant researcher at the Chair of German Literature at the Universidad de Buenos Aires (2011 - 2013) and worked as a libraian at the Goethe-Institut in Buenos Aires (2014 - 2015). She participated in the residency programme of the Looren Translators' House in Switzerland (2015, 2017) and also in various translation workshops, both in Argentina and abroad. Between 2014 and 2015 she collaborated in the organisation of some of them: Wortschmiede (2014), Translating the Imagination (2014, 2015). She currently lives in Berlin, where she works as a producer and dramaturg for the Argentinean artist Lola Arias.
